When we moved into this apartment we had the kitchen and bathroom redone (previous tenants = P-I-G-S) and so we figured we had a few years of tranquility ahead of us being as everything was new and shiny, right? Wrong. Our bathroom's water faucet broke a few days ago.
So today I took a day off from work to sit at home and wait for the plumber to arrive. Oup-dee-doo! Anyway, having all this free time on my hands and not being able to leave the apartment since I didn't have a precise time the plumber would be coming (typical!), I spent the afternoon goofing around with my camera. And that's how today's picture came to be. It's of my favorite tee-shirt. I know, how lame is that? But hey, we can't be going to Many Chao concerts everyday, can we??
It's not only my favorite tee-shirt because of the I (heart) Mexico message. It's got a story and a "thing" about it which are usually essential for an object to become my "favorite" anything.
#1. Believe it or not, I bought this shirt in Japan! We were walking on the streets of Tokyo one day and suddenly I saw it hanging in a window of a small clothing shop. Nothing else in the store hinted to having any connection whatsoever with Mexico but the moment I laid eyes on that tee-shirt, I knew it had to be mine.
#2. You can't really tell from the picture, but the heart part is made of real mexican sarape!! I love the colors and the texture of it and I feel so proud whenever I wear it. It beats having to wear a real mexican jorongo...
#3. After our trip, when I got back to Paris and began my whole novela thing I almost chocked on my cereal one morning when in one of the scenes, the heroine, Tsukushi, is wearing MY EXACT SAME TEE-SHIRT!!!!!
#4. It's a tee-shirt that was bought in Japan, made in the US, with imported cotton from France and reading "I (heart) Mexico". All it's missing is a Fned tag!!! :D
Fned.
P.S. Ok, the part about the cotton coming from France is not true, but it almost could be!
P.S.2: The plumber did come eventually. Our water faucet is working again.

your story brought goosebumps to my arms and sent a shiver down my spine!!! I find it incredible how some parts of life can be thoroughly synchronised in the most intricate yet seemingly effortless ways.
Minshap: True. That's why I like this shirt so much. It's an example of exactly that. Cosmic coincidence.
Fned.
I heart this post. Great shirt and a great story. :)
Now, what are the chances I could find an "I heart Paris" shirt in Cancun?
Cancun Canuck: I'm sure if you go to the Cancun equivalent of The Fayuca you'll find something along the lines of an "AI LUV PARYS" t-shirt....LOL
