Getting back to... "normal"?

As some of you know, someone very close to me recently passed away. I don't think I can deal with blogging about it yet, not necessarily because it would be painful (I mean it would be painful, but that's not what keeps me from writing about it) but simply because I don't trust my writing skills to find the right words to express the sorrow and the emptiness that this person's loss leaves in my life and I can't fathom the idea of writing something that feels only halfway.

The thing is that my "real" life has slowly but surely gone back to normal... however, with my "blogging" life it seems I'm left with a dilemma: should I then just blog on as if nothing happened?

In my work life things are definitely back to normal. As you might remember, at the office I recently had the not-so pleasant experience of being kept at an "amicable" arm's distance, but looking back, this actually turned out to be a blessing in disguise... I needed the time to get back on track at my own speed and had I had to deal with people continually intruding in on me, even if their intentions might have been good, I would have surely ended up feeling it mighty overbearing, such was the frame of mind I was in at the time. So I guess, thank you Swine Flu.

Since then, once again I'm finding myself working 13 hour shifts and juggling two positions at the same time while trying to get my projects to meet deadlines and objectives. That's why I was happy to hear that my boss recently sent an urgent note to HR telling them that I had been (successfully) doing this long enough and requesting, no, demanding that they find my replacement asap so I can finally leave my previous position for good before I, quote, "have a professional breakdown", unquote.

In my personal life, things are going ok too. Hubby and I quietly celebrated our 4th anniversary yesterday. We celebrated by making reservations at a restaurant we'd been wanting to go for years but their prices had always made us reconsider, saving it for a "special occasion". Well, last night we decided it was as good a special occasion as we'd ever get. Macéo is simply wonderful. The restaurant is right next to the Palais Royal gardens and the place is magnificent, the food was mouthwatering, the service was impeccable and the wine was exquisite. Yes, the bill was slightly indigestible, but the wonderful time time Hubby and I spent there was the perfect Pepto Bismol.

Plus, we get to continue to celebrate. Although there was no "Putting on of the Dress" ceremony this year (too lazy to drag my dress out of the back of the closet - though maybe later today) we are keeping up with that 4 year old tradition of traveling somewhere on our anniversary. This year: Venice. We leave tomorrow and we'll be spending what will hopefully be five glorious days in the floating city. No gondola trips are currently planned (the idea of someone silently standing over us, with a large paddle in his hands, while we're supposed to be having a "private moment" somehow spooks me) but lots and lots of strolling around the city, crossing canal bridges, visiting amazing art museums and riding vaporettos on the Grand Canal are definitely on the agenda... not to mention......uhm.....wait for it, wait for it.........PASTA and PIZZA!!!

I guess you can say things at work and everyday life are ok and have slowly gone back to normal (I know, trips to Italy and fancy restaurants aren't exactly "normal", but then again, it'd be boring to hear about laundry wash and Dr House marathons instead, wouldn't it?).

So there is no reason why blogging shouldn't as well, right?

Right.

Happy Anniversary to you both! Can it already be FOUR years??
Have a wonderful trip, take lots of pics, eat, drink, relax and enjoy one another. (Put that dress on while you can...after 29 years I know I can't, haha!)
Lots of love,
Aunt S :) :)
