Favorite time of the year

As the title to this post indicates, this is my favorite time of the year.

I love Paris in early autumn.

The mornings seems crisp and cool and the sun will still shine nice and strong during the day.

But the best part is that we get our nights back.

For some reason I have never gotten used to the fact that during the summer it doesn't get dark here until after 10:30pm. I grew up having a "day time" and a "night time" everyday and when that "night time" disappears during the summer, something just doesn't seem right to me.

But in September things begin to settle back to normal. It starts to get dark around 7pm again and the mornings and nights are nice and cool. Call me crazy, but I love walking out of my office building and feeling the fresh air hit me in the face and feel the night wrapping around me. I love to walk down to my subway station and enjoying the different colors of street lights and fluo signs as they begin sparkling all over town... I even enjoy watching the headlights from the traffic coming and going, it seems like a cheerful dance of red, yellow and white lights.

We only get a few weeks of this. Before long November will be upon us and then our "night time" will overlap our "day time" making it dark at 4pm, which is pushing the envelope a little too far.

I guess it's true that we never appreciate things until we loose them. Like a nicely scheduled night time. :)

Fall in Paris has to be awesome. I love September here too. Not too hot, just the right amount of light. Sometimes you just pinch yourself I bet. I do.

In NC summer nights ended at around 9pm and winter nights at 5pm. I can't imagine the sun setting at 4pm, 5 was bad enough! Oddly enough, that's one of the things I found strange about summer in Mexico, the sun still sets around 7pm.

Fall is best in any country. It is my best wardrobe season. I love earth tones :-)

I'm so sorry girls, this week was hell at work and had me leaving the office at 9pm every night! My brain was mush by the time I got home and so I hadn't been able to catch up with your comments. *snif! *snif!!*

Bluestreak: I bet autumn in Sevilla is G-O-R-G-E-O-U-S!! I loved that city so much when we were there last year and I even discovered I had some long lost relatives on my grandfather's side living there! Might have to go there and visit them sometime soon!! Feel like meeting up? ;)

Mexpat: The sun setting at 4pm is depressing. You feel like your days last 2 hours and the rest is nightfall. This said, days 14 hours of sunlight are not my preference either... I like it just the way it is in Mexico... nightfall at 7pm is just perfect for me: just in time for a cold maragarita at the bar! ;)

Ale: Ooh pictures! Yes! Definitely, that's hubby and mine's plan for this afternoon... just go out and have a long walk in Paris and photog the city away! But first we need to get this apartment back into habitable mode (the neglect I have been inflicting on Fned's Blog is NOTHING compared to the neglect we've been inflicting on this apartment in the past days)... :(

That girl: Jejejeje- You're my kind of gal (but I knew that already :D). I was the first weirdo to take out my totally gorgeous new coat out of the closet and proudly parade myself down the streets of Paris when while everyone else is desperately trying to delude themselves that it is still summer here by wearing their silly little cotton dresses and platform sandals in 17°C weather! Ha! Fools!! LOL
