T-5 Big scare

In France people love to bring up a certain theory, or more like an empiric law if you will, called the "Loi de l'Emmerdement Maximal" or LEM. In (polite) english it translates to "Law of the Ultimate Nuisance". The LEM states that:

“Everything that is susceptible to go wrong will necessarily go wrong”

The most common example of this law is the bread & butter case: If a slice of bread with butter falls to the floor, it will always land with the butter side facing down.

I looked it up and I think the English equivalent is Murphy’s Law.

Anyway… at T–5 days for our trip to Japan, what do you know?… my tooth starts acting up (yep, that nightmare is still an ongoing issue)! Last night I went to bed at 2am and only after a big gulp of whiskey, a 10 minute run-in with the Listerine bottle and popping 2 Advil pills.

How is it that my tooth decides that NOW is a good time to start stirring up trouble in my mouth when I’m about to embark on a non-stop 17 hour flight in a pressurized cabin at thousands of feet above water???

Well, according to the LEM… it was only natural that this would happen. After all, I do have a totally booked work week ahead of me with not a spare minute to dash across town for a doctor appointment, tons of last minute shopping to get done before leaving, piles of laundry to get through if I don’t want to go to Japan in my undies and a crappy Dentist.

Move over bread&butter example, I am the freaking apple-falling-down-on-Newton’s-nog case for the LEM!!!

That's always the way... Have fun in Japan (hope the tooth stops!) and take lots of pictures! Wait... isn't your hubby camera-obsessed like mine? If so, then have him take lots of pics and just post some of his (like I do- lol)!

Owie! I hope you can sneak into a clinic before you go and get this taken care of. Wish you were in Mexico where you could just walk into a pharmacy and get whatever you need?

I cannot believe how excited I am for YOUR trip, lol! Looking forward to the full report and pics!

p.s. You were missed this weekend on Isla Mujeres!

Not to be a poop, but the bread always lands butter-side down because that side is heavier. It's just the way gravity works.

I do hope you get the toothache taken care of before flying. Cannot wait to see pix from your trip! Enjoy it!

Your post has been making me think about this antigravity theory all day...

just see the dentist however you can... or maybe you'd have better luck seeing one in Japan! I've been avoiding a visit to the dentist myself, but then we have Astringosol here!!!! Let us know what you decide.

First of all, Tooth update: Doing good. Ducked a couple of meetings yesterday and squeezed an appt with one of my colleagues' dentist. The woman worked a miracle and tooth is doing much better! *grinning*

Mexpat: Oh yeah... Hubby is a camera-maniac... definitely expect beautiful pics coming from his camera. From mine, you can only expect of focus stuff. :(

Mexico Way: Thanks Liz!!

Cancun Canuck: Ahhh, that's so sweet! I got the feeling this year's Blogger meetup wont be the last! Hopefully I'll be able to go next time! :D

Oh... and totally hillarious links! Thanks!! I guess the bread&butter example is widely heard of...

Rivergirl: See, that's something my husband would say. *smile*. He's the reasonable one in our couple. :D

Mamacita: You got it girl! That's EXACTLY what it means. Now you have to learn French, and you know what they say: the best way to learn a language is to go to the country where it's spoken!!! *hint-hint* :)
