Landed and still alive

Greetings from Tokyo...

After a very long day of walking in the HUGE city of Tokyo, here we are at Kinko's (it's been a LONG time since I've been inside one of these) checking our mail, taking a quick peak at our digital pics so far and updating our blogs :)

Tooth was well behaved throughout the trip and I'm to happy report that there are no longer any ongoing health issues so we've been able to enjoy the trip so far.

Here's the picture of the day (sorry, no geishas so far but I'll keep looking). This one goes straight out to our fellow frenchmen (they could learn a thing or two from Tokyo's ultra clean metro system) ;)

Sayonara for now,

not that you won't have enough to post on already when you get back...but I read this and thought it was interesting, and of course, thought of you, as I always do whenever I read something about French culture. What do you think?

this is the first time i have come across your blog and i just have to comment on the bathroom picture. my husband and i did 2 tours in japan while he was in the navy and we got married in tokyo.
20 years later we decided to take a trip through japan and took our 2sons with us. one evening while in a restaurant, our younger son came out of the bathroom soaking wet. when we asked what happened, we found out that our older son had pushed a button in the stall next to his brother, and somehow that activated the bidet in little brother's stall. i didn't know they had those in public bathrooms, but evidently they do and that one somehow malfunctioned. it was hilarious!

have fun on your trip. I love japan, the people are wonderful and the food is so delicious! and yes, their metro system is very clean.

Mamacita Chilena: I read the blog and actually find it somewhat puzzling.... I don't feel the french are turning into prudes but they are somewhat still more conservatives than nothern countries like Finland or Sweden when it comes to nudity, even thought they don't like to admit it... Still, I don't see how people could be shocked at having their First Lady appear naked in a magazine when her previous job included modeling lingerie and posing in magazines covers?? I mean, what did they expect? That Carla Bruni's past would simply *poof* dissapear like that the moment she became Mrs Sarkozy?

Teresa: Thank you for visiting my blog. Indeed I did have a funny "toilet" moment of my own the other day when I simply couldn't figure out where the button to flush the toilet was in a public restroom.... I finally put the lid down, stepped out of the stall and had to ask someone to show me where the flush was (a sensor with a japanese sign inside de stall).... how is THAT for embarrasing???

Still, I agree with you, Japan is such a lovely, lovely, lovely country. The sights are magnificent, the people are the nicest I've ever met and the food, although sometimes scary looking, is delicious!!! You are so lucky to have been able to live there!
