So we've done it. Hubby and I decided to sign up at our local gym.
Ever since we moved into our place a couple of years ago I kept telling myself I should check that place out. It's literally across the street from our building, it seems small enough to be neighborhood friendly and yet still have all the right equipment and it looks quite clean and hygienic.
So yesterday morning (holiday here in France so no work, yipee!) I somehow managed to drag myself to their front desk and ask for information. They suggested Hubby and I come by during the evening and have a personal coach have us do a trail training and we could make up our mind afterwards.
At fist Hubby wasn't very sure of wanting to do this (with is two-days-in-Switzerland thing going on it doesn't leave him much time to go the gym on week-days) but I pouted and whined and got him to come with me.
Sylvain, our super duper nice (and hunky) coach met us at 8pm and proceeded to show us around. Indeed the place is bigger than it looks from the outside. Along with all the proper weight lifting and cardio training equipment there is also a fitness classroom (where they have aerobics, yoga and other similar group lessons), a karate training space and even a sauna!!!
While we were there Sylvain asked us what were our objectives for wanting to join a gym and what do you know? Hubby and I complement each other even when it comes to exercise! I need to work on my lower body and hubby on his upper body, LOL.
Our "coach" patiently wrote out a workout plan for each of us, showed us what machines we should use and in what frequency and even had us do some sets just to make sure we didn't hurt ourselves on the first try (because that's how bad in shape we are!!!)..... I have to say it was quite thrilling to think of all those calories I would be burning with Sylvain's "magic" plan and I’m pretty sure hubby's “future hunky arms & back” where on his mind probably as well :-)
When Sylvain finally said we were free to go we didn’t think it twice and marched to the front desk to sign up. I’ve decided I’m going to go three times a week and hubby is psyched at working out on weekend mornings. I was hoping we could work out together but with his swiss project for now it doesn’t look good. Anyway, I’ve added a new Ticker to Fned’s Blog with my weight loss goal and I’ll see how it goes.
Yes people, I’m a Ticker maniac. I just like the idea of having a cute constant reminder of the progress being made. Plus, it makes me feel good to see that three out of my five NY resolutions are (so far) working out :D

Andale! You go girl! I'm here as your armchair couch potato coach, haha. Enjoy that hunky eye candy too, nothing wrong with a little inspiring view at the gym. :)
Yay for you guys! I hope you stick with it! You will have so much more energy and also sleep better! And thats just a bonus since you know, you're getting healthy and will look all fabulous!
The trainers are always hunky aren't they? It can be a bit distracting at times...
I hope you enjoy going to your gym! Mine is literally down the street from my house as well and I still don't go as much as I always intend to. You know how it is...life gets in the way!
ps. in regards to your comment, OF COURSE you're crashing on my couch when you come to Santiago, I wouldn't have it any other way! So...umm....when are you coming to Santiago???
You're definitely not French then - French people do NOT go to the gym to lose weight.
They smoke.
Lol- I like Lucy's comment! Yeah- the gym rocks and here there are two HOT guys who are regularly at the desk joking around. One is a trainer and the other works the desk. Uhh, I'll take my hunky personal trainer with a Mexican accent, please! mmmmmmm
