How many times have you seen this happen in a movie? :
The main character is talking about a confidential subject / sensitive issue / or simply bad mouthing another person and hasn't realized the mic is on / the telephone is unhooked / or the recording machine is taping ????
And how many times do you think: "what an idiot!!!! That would NEVER happen to me!!!"
Well, never say never. Today it did happen to me.
I am soooooooooooo pissed at myself right now. For one clumsy stupid mistake similar to the ones mentioned above I have now put myself in a pretty difficult situation vis-à-vis someone who happens to work in the specific department I was hoping to eventually move to at some point in my career!!!
Now, I'm an optimistic person, you know? The kind that says things like "stuff happen for a reason" in the face of adversity....
Well, today, I proved that I am right.
Things do happen for a reason. The reason is: I AM AN IDIOT.

Oh dear! I am sorry! But you know it's so not you're fault! It's that annoying gossiping chickadee that you've been forced to work with. She's rubbed off on you. Get mad at her! Not yourself!
Oh No! I hope your subject has a sense of humor! To make you feel better let me tell you what happened to my friend Nicky. She sent a very scathing email ( about our supervisor) that if I recall correctly had a very descriptive piece on what she thought of the "little man" and why he had to feel so superior. Well she was so pissed that in thinking of her subject she included him when she sent it out...OMG! we all wanted to die with her, but she laughed it off and apologized for the rant and he had no choice but to forgive her. And while a year later we all still remember such a priceless moment it didn't keep her from getting a promotion to another department. So cheer up girl, this too shall pass.
Oh, fned, it's because the universe has a perverse sense of humour, whenever I have said anything snide about someone else's parenting (for example) it's come back to haunt me, I once vowed "I would never put my child on a leash!" I had to put my son in a harness because otherwise he was gone, zoom, disappeared, while my darling daughters used to either hang on to my sweater or hold my hand.
It probably wasn't as awful as you think it was, and maybe you can blame it on thinking in Spanish or English and speaking French, like you got confused.
regards,
Theresa
Oh amiga, I hope everything works out alright. Don't kick yourself too much, just relax and go with the flow. Let us know how it all shakes out.
