Countdown: T- 9 days

Yes, I know.... it's a little lame to be posting a countdown of fave songs on the days leading up to our trip instead of actually writing interesting stuff (like the fact that we welcomed the year by finding out someone ripped us off for 900 euros by gambling online with our credit card number).

But you see, music is a part of me. It follows me wherever I go, and sometimes even precedes me which is the case here now.

The songs I'll be posting in the days to come are all songs that I grew up listening to. They were present in all the parties and bars and discos I went to during my teens and young adult life and every single one brings back memories of friends, places and things for me. And also, every one (except the Ricardo Arjona one I posted yesterday) come from Artists that come from either Argentina or Chile.

See, back in the day, we didn't have youtube nor google and very limited (SLOW!!) access to internet. So music came to us through the radio and whenever you stumbled across a song that you really liked you'd have to pray that the DJ would announce the name of the song and the artist at the end of the program (which was sometimes not the case). Eventually, you'd hear the songs in bars and ask around and find out that Soda Stereo or La Ley were not rock bands that came from the back alleys of el D.F. like you would think, but that in fact, came from a bit further beyond than that. They came from far away intriguing countries such as Argentina and Chile.

And so I'm pretty sure that's where my initial desire to travel to these countries was born all those years ago. Through the music.

So here goes, sit back and enjoy. And come travel with me.

Oh I love this song too! Thanks for putting it up! I remember giving the cassette (when people still played cassettes) to Anto as a b'day present, just so I could hear this song!
And it's so true about music guiding the way at times! If it wasn't for that "fluta", I might have gone back to the States and you would never have been born!
Thinking about you these days with lots of love and nostalgia as your countdown continues!
P.S. How horrible that you guys got ripped off!!! I hope there's a way to get your money back! I think credit cards have insurance for that event.

Whatever gets you down here is fine by me. :)

Oh, and that STINKS about the credit card fraud. I hope you've been able to get that sorted out.

In case you want any reassurance from a random lurker, musical posts are always welcome. The last time I listened to some music on this blog, I became a fan of Bénabar :-D

Cheers and keep it up :-)
