My parents brought me up to be a humble person and avoid bragging as much as possible. In a way this is why I’ve always had a problem announcing super good news and being openly happy about it. I usually tend to put a “but, it’s not all so rosy, I swear” spin on things in order to feel that I’m not being overbearing.
But, darn it! Today I don’t care.
I got a promotion!!! Me! Moi! My very first corporate pat-on-the-back! :D My boss has offered me the position of Marketing and Communications coordinator for our department, which mostly is a lot of jumbo mumbo when you take a good look at the new tasks I’ll be performing. Anyway, bottom line this means I get to peel the “Personal Assistant” tag off my resume.
Yipee!!
It also means I’ll be working double as much because until they can find a replacement for me I’ll continue to perform my daily P.A. workload PLUS progressively start to lead several projects related to my new responsabilities. I can’t help but feel a tingle of apprehension cuz I’m already up to nose in work from both my current and future positions and this is not counting that come September things will really get busy!!!
But I don’t care, for now I get to go “you-hou!!!! Yay me!!!!”

Muchas felicidades Fned, que bueno! I always preferred the title of "coordinator" over "assistant" myself, you go girl!
First task, find yourself a replacement so you are not doing two jobs!
And raise a glass to yourself tonight, a nice glass of really good champagne (and tell me all about it, I am a champagne junkie who never gets her fix).
Abrazos y mucha suerte!

Hip,hip huzzah! fned congratulations! that is so cool. Do you get a new office and everything? but wait you like your office, never mind. That s so wonderful,I am sure you totally deserve it. Now, the proper answer to all this is just "thanks" no back pedaling, you are moving up in the world accept the compliment you deserve! One thing that was hard for me to learn when I was working is that you have to "toot your own horn" , that is very hard for me.
regards,
Theresa
Fned - How extremely cool!! Congratulations. You deserve to brag about it girl, it's great news!
I'm genuinly sitting here feeling happy for you :-)
Congratulations! ¡Felicidades! and ¡Qué Friggin Padre! Love me some spanglish!
It is hard to talk about your accomplishments, it can feel like you're bragging. It's different though when you tell friends, even cyber friends, good news about something that you worked for and you won. You are letting us share your happiness and be proud of you.
Since we're quoting mothers, my mother always said not to belittle your accomplishments and to take compliments with a simple 'Thank you'. I shortened it in my advice to my son to 'don't explain just say thanks'. It works.
So, I want to tell you what a great person I think you are and that's just from reading your blog and comments. You work hard, you let the bad stuff roll away and you have accomplished so much in so few years. You really are an astute and talented young woman. Be proud of that.
(((now, just say Thanks and have some more Champagne)))
WOW! I'm sorry I'm so late in reading the NEWS, but they've said it all for me darling girl. I'm toasting you tonight w/Car - (all your sibs are traveling). You know how happy I am for you and how proud. And remember, bragging is uncool, but being delighted over an accomplishment enough to say to people, "WOW! Can you believe it?" is totally acceptable - in fact, if you didn't tell us, we'd be hurt that we had to find out some other way and couldn't share in your delight! So, thanks for sharing the news and can't wait to hear how it goes as you juggle things around - we all know you're up to that, but be sure to take notes so we can gain from your experience right along with you. It promises to be extremely interesting!
YA HOO..a big TEXAS yell coming your way! We are so proud of you! Our congratulations on your promotion. May there be many more in your future and we hope you will ALWAYS share such wonderful news.
We Love You,
MiMi & PoPPy
