In celebration of Blog Action day I decided today I would be as "eco-friendly" as possible. Ok, so it's not much but at least it's something...
I started my day by taking a shower without washing my hair. I know... not very hygenic but I figure it saved almost five minutes of running water... hey, it's for a good cause, ok ?
I then Velib'ed my way downtown were I am attending a training course. I calculated the bike ride saved me a 30 minute metro ride or a 40 minute car ride...
I have to admit though that despite my good intentions my morning was not very planet-friendly, specially since I spent it inside a room full of computers :(
At lunch I ate at a small fair trade shop... the products are all freshly grown and contain no OGMs... I guess that doesn't have a lot to do with global warming but still... I was feeling pretty "green friendly" and fairly hungry .... :)
After velib'ing my way home after work I stoped at our local market to get some groceries for the week. I opted for buying one of the re-usable fabric bags for bringing home the groceries and thus avoid using the non degradable plastic bags they usually hand out...plus the bag is pink ! Cool huh ?? :)
It's started to get pretty chilly in Paris lately, but tonight I decided I would wear a sweater and wool socks instead of turning the heating on. I hope to be able to continue to do so (hopefully none of my toes will fall off! :s )
In all I guess all these little things don't amount to much... but I figure it's a start....
Anyway, have a nice Action Day !!!!

Hey, I think you did pretty good during the day! You really remembered throughout the day to just try to cut down on all sorts of energy sources and to conserve and not waste... when you think about it, you made a pretty big effort! Hope all bloggers did the same! As for me, I just tried to spread the word... oh yeah, and I didn't use the microwave or toaster or coffee machine. Wonder how we can get the local gov't here to start a velib kind of program? Any ideas?
I think implementing Velib in Puebla wouldn't be very practical... can you imagine getting from the Animas to los Fuertes in less than 30mins (that's the whole idea of Velib... getting from A to B in less than 30mins to as not to pay)...
I'm more inclined for "clean" public transportation like the subway or the tramway... I think that would work pretty good in Puebla instead of all those "combis"... :s
maybe a subway/train system that would cover the longer routes (one or two lines only) and then velib stations between stops... downtown could certainly use some lightening up of traffic!
